SMS Program & Consent

Prep Reminder is operated by Justin Kehoe (Wilco Visuals). Last updated August 2026.

This page describes the Prep Reminder text-message (SMS) program, exactly how patients opt in and give consent, and how to opt out. Prep Reminder sends appointment and procedure-preparation reminders to patients on behalf of their healthcare provider.

How patients opt in (consent)

Consent is collected verbally, in person or by phone, by front-desk staff at the patient's healthcare provider, at the time the patient schedules a medical procedure. There is no website or online form used to collect opt-in; the patient's agreement is given directly to clinic staff and recorded in our system before any message is sent. Consent is specific to this reminder program and is not bundled into any other agreement.

The exact enrollment script staff read

Before enrolling a patient, staff read the following disclosure aloud and record the patient's yes/no answer:

“Would you like text reminders about your upcoming procedure and how to prepare? These are automated messages, starting about two weeks before through the day of your procedure. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP anytime to opt out, or HELP for help. May I sign you up at this mobile number?”

A patient is enrolled only after answering yes; our staff enrollment screen requires this consent to be confirmed before a patient can be added.

Confirmation message you receive

After you are enrolled, the first message you receive is:

Prep Reminder: You are signed up for appointment & prep reminders. Message frequency varies, generally from about 2 weeks before through your procedure day. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

Message frequency and rates

Message frequency varies. Messages generally begin about two weeks before your appointment and end on the day of your procedure. Message and data rates may apply.

How to opt out or get help

Reply STOP to any message to stop all reminders at any time. Reply HELP for help. Opting out of text messages does not affect your care.
